CSIR NET exam falls under the aegis of The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. Through giving these exams one gets the status of “Junior Research Fellow” (JRF) or can also become a lecturer in the field of Sciences in Universities depending on the degree and score in the exams. It is one of the most sought after exams for people who want to get jobs in Government Colleges or Universities.

  • The CSIR NET exams have certain eligibility criteria which candidates must fulfil to be able to appear for the exams.

CSIR NET Eligibility - Age Limit

The age limit for Junior Research Fellow(JRF) is 28 years and there is no age cap for applying for being a lecturer.

CSIR NET Educational Qualification

 

  • The candidate must have completed  M.Sc. or equivalent degree/ Integrated BS-MS/ BS-4 years/ BE/ B. Tech/ B. Pharma/ MBBS with at least 55% (50% for SC/ST, Third gender and Persons with Disability candidates)
  • Candidates who are currently enrolled in an M.Sc. programme or have finished their graduation are also eligible for the CSIR UGC NET 2021 under the Result Awaited (RA) category if they complete their degree within two years and achieve the required scores.
  • SC/ST and PWD candidates must have a minimum of 50% marks in M.Sc. or equivalent degree / Integrated BS-MS / BS-4 years / BE / B. Tech / B. Pharma / MBBS.
  • Candidates with a B.Sc (Hons) or equivalent degree or who are currently enrolled in an Integrated MS-Ph.D programme with a minimum score of 55 percent (50 percent for SC/ST/PWD) are also eligible to take the exam.
  • Bachelor's degree holders are eligible for the fellowship if they register/enroll in a Ph.D/Integrated PhD programme within two years after receiving their bachelor's degree.
  • Only candidates who obtained their Master's degree prior to September 19, 1992 and received a minimum of 50% will be considered for a Lectureship.
  • Candidates with only a bachelor's degree will be disqualified from consideration for a lectureship.

CSIR NET 2021 Eligibility for LS/JRF Exam

 

  • Life Science CSIR NET 2021 Eligibility: Candidates must have an academic qualification in Life Science to be eligible to take this exam.
  • Earth Science CSIR NET 2021 Eligibility: Candidates must have finished an M.Sc./BS-MS/BS-4 Years/B-Pharma or any equivalent degree in the subject of Earth Science, according to the CSIR UGC NET eligibility requirements.
  • Chemical Science CSIR NET 2021 Eligibility: Candidates must have an M.Sc./BS/B-Tech or equivalent qualification in Chemistry with the required aggregate percentage to sit for this test.
  • Physical Science CSIR NET 2021 Eligibility: Candidates must have a valid M.Sc degree to be eligible to take this test.
  • Mathematics CSIR NET 2021 Eligibility: Candidates holding a degree in M.Sc./BS-MS/BS/B-Tech or any equivalent study for Mathematics are eligible to appear for the Mathematics exam.

 

Selection for Junior Research Fellowship and Lectureship

 

  • When filling out the CSIR UGC NET 2021 application form, candidates must mention the posts they are seeking for. Aspirants must indicate their preference for JRF and/or LS based on their eligibility.
  • Candidates who apply for JRF but also meet the CSIR NET Lectureship eligibility criteria will be evaluated for both JRF and LS.
  • If an applicant is judged to be too old for JRF (NET), he or she will be considered exclusively for Lectureship (NET).
  • Once a candidate selects an option/preference on the CSIR NET application form, it is deemed final, and no requests for changes will be accepted.
  • Candidates holding an M.Sc degree or who are in the M.Sc Result Awaiting (RA) category are eligible for a Lectureship (LS) if they meet the UGC's eligibility requirements.

 

CSIR NET Eligibility on Nationality

This exam is only limited to Indian Nationals, any candidates of other nationalities cannot appear in this exam.

CSIR Eligibility on Number of Attempts

According to the National Testing Agency there is no limit in the number of attempts for CSIR NET exam 2021.

CSIR Reservation Criteria

CSIR which conducts the exams through the National Testing Agency(NTA) places certain Reservation policies in place as per the Central Government guidelines for any competitive exams.

The reserved category has been given a certain amount of relaxation in marks, let us have a look at the same:

  1. Other Backward Classes - 5%
  2. Scheduled Caste - 5%
  3. Scheduled Tribe - 5%

CSIR NET Application Fee 2021

The candidates appearing for the CSIR NET exam also have to pay an application fee to be able to appear in the exams and also to receive their admit cards. We would be looking at the application fees which are different and is as per the category the candidate belongs to. Let us look at the same:

  • OBC (NCL) - Rs. 500/-
  • SC/ST- Rs. 250/-
